Upcoming Dates

Testing is over and the students did a great job!! I think that all of the children felt very successful.
Monday, May 7th: Second grade Science Fair Projects are due.
Tuesday, May 8th: Third Grade Famous Person Reports.
Thursday, May 10th: Open House and second grade Science Fair.
Friday, May 18th: In-class Talent Show.
Thursday, May 24th: Field Trip to Agricultural History Museum.
That is it for now but continue to periodically check the blog as new events will come up as the year quickly winds down.

About Me

This is my 11th year teaching the second grade at Rio del Mar School. I can safely say that in addition to parenting, teaching is my passion. There is nothing more rewarding than working with children. Every day is a new adventure. I have three children. Maddie, my oldest, is a sophomore at UCSB. I believe that Maddie was the Capitola Junior Lifeguard Instructor for some of our students. Barrett, my second, is a senior at Aptos HS, and Jack, my last, is in the 7th grade at Aptos Junior High School. I can now boast that I have three children in three different schools. Life outside of Room 1 is a whole different adventure! This summer I continued to work on learning to surf. I have found that the only way to spend quality time with my children is if I am stuffed in a wetsuit and floating on a board in the Pacific Ocean. I still have a long way to go before I am charging into the lineup with all of the other Santa Cruz surfers. I am a big fan of summer, I love teaching, and I love, love being a mom.
